Today, Canon continues to build on this tradition with the Color imageRUNNER C5185 Series, equipped with unrivaled color brilliance and production speeds of up to 51 pages per minute (ppm) for both color and black-and-white letter-sized documents. The 100-sheet Single-Pass DADF on the Color imageRUNNER C5185 devices scans both sides of originals simultaneously at speeds up to 100 images-per-minute (ipm) at 300 dots-per-inch (dpi) resolution, helping to improve document distribution, communication and archiving.

The new Color imageRUNNER C5185 will be the first imageRUNNER models to support new features that will also be available on several black-and-white and Color imageRUNNER devices moving forward. Some of these features include Workflow Composer, which allows users to register one key for all document processes within an entire workflow or task, IPv6 and Microsoft Vista support, and Access Management System, which gives administrators greater control over device access at the user- and group-level.

Designed in two versions: the "i" model for out-of-the-box standard office environments, and the "base" model, providing highly customizable features to meet complex document management, the Color imageRUNNER C5185 Series is powered by Canon's imageCHIP system architecture driving all-in-one multifunction capabilities, including simultaneous copying, printing, scanning, sending, and faxing. Sporting Canon's Twin-Belt Fusing Technology, this device provides users with fast print speeds and warm-up times, helping to address companies' needs for greater output in less time

The Color imageRUNNER C5185i model is powered by Canon's evolutionary imageCHIP system architecture. It not only enables simultaneous copying, printing, scanning, sending and faxing, it also delivers output at speeds of up to 51 pages per minute (letter) in both black and white and brilliant color. With Canon's Twin-Belt Fusing Technology fast print speeds and warm up times are achieved. And at true 1200 dpi, every word will appear with absolute clarity with the highly precise four-beam laser scanner.

The Color imageRUNNER model is designed to make you more productive with an easy-to-read full color touch panel, interactive help menus and more useful documentation and tutorials. Remote tools enable you to monitor and perform operations on the device from any computer on the network.

Supports a host of Internet-ready capabilities, including the optional Web Access Software that allows users to call up Internet or intranet data right on the user-interface, and print Web Pages and downloadable PDF files when configured with the Canon print controller. The Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) protocol, enables you to securely send documents to a shared storage service over the Internet.

The Universal Send PDF Security Feature Set (standard) provides advanced options to help prevent impersonation, unauthorized alteration, or interception of your documents. With Digital Device Signature mode, recipients can be assured of the originating device of documents. You can also protect the contents of your documents with the Encrypted PDF feature, and secure them with a password to restrict access, editing, and printing. The Digital User Signature option enables verification of your identity to recipients by adding your digital certificate to your documents.

Significantly reduce large file sizes associated with color files by utilizing Canon's proprietary PDF High Compression technology. And with Canon's exclusive Trace & Smooth PDF feature, text and line art in a scanned PDF document can be converted to scalable artwork (vector graphics data). The vector graphics are less jagged at the edge and can be manipulated in Adobe Illustrator to create elements for other documents. (Standard on "i" models, optional on "Base" models)

With Universal Send technology, the Color imageRUNNER model enables you to distribute scanned documents to multiple network destinations, such as e-mail and Internet fax addresses, local Mail Boxes, fax, network folders, and document management systems-in one simple operation. Color Universal Send offers powerful options to master creation, distribution, and archiving of your documents.

Canon's proprietary UFR II/PCL printing technology is standard. That means the Color imageRUNNER device is a true MFP right out of the box, ready to produce volumes of general business documents.

The Color imageRUNNER model ships with a standard 100-sheet Document Feeder, standard automatic duplexing, and paper capacity of 1,200 sheets that can be upgraded to support a maximum capacity of 5,000 sheets through six sources. The system also supports a wide variety of media including heavy paper, labels and transparencies. The Color imageRUNNER model offers a choice of three finishers that provide extensive stacking capabilities, multi-position stapling, saddle-stitched booklet output, and optional hole punching for professional-looking output. Flexibility to accommodate all job types on one machine.

For fast and reliable scanning, the Color imageRUNNER C5185 Series includes a standard 100-sheet Single-Pass Duplexing Automatic Document Feeder (DADF) that's capable of scanning images in full color at up to 600 dpi. The new DADF boosts productivity by simultaneously scanning both sides of duplex documents at up to 100 impressions per minute at 300 dpi.

The Color imageRUNNER model provides memory capacity of up to 1.5GB, an 80GB hard drive, and Canon's innovative MEAP� (Multifunctional Embedded Application Platform) technology for customized workflows.
